Holmes and Watson - The Case of the Six Knives

Sherlock Holmes puffed on his pipe as he scrutinized the scene.

The naked man lay face down on The Ritz London hotel's bed as if sleeping on his stomach. Six knives were sticking out his back.

"Murder most foul," said Holmes shaking his head. He turned to his companion, "My dear Watson, what do you see?" pointing at the bed with his pipe.

"A puzzle," replied Joan Watson looking around the room. "A locked room and no disturbance to the body."

"Use your nose, woman and all is revealed," said Holmes.

Watson sniffed and sniffed. "I smell some," sniff, sniff, "sulfur?"

"Surely now it is quite clear to one as dense as you how this crime was done."

"Well no," replied Joan in a quiet voice.

"Sulfur is the body odor of a demon. A demon appeared over the sleeping body and thrust the knives into the man's back."

"You have overthought this, Holmes. The sulfur smell comes from the rotten eggs over by the kitchen sink," said Joan, tilting her head towards the counter.

"Bah," Holmes puffing on his pipe for a moment. "The demon showered before coming here."

Joan picked up a pillow from the bed with a gloved hand and pushed it into Holmes' face, "And the lipstick on the pillow near the victim’s head?"

"Have you not learned anything? It is obvious Watson, a lady demon of course."

"Why would a lady demon kill this man?" asked Watson slamming the pillow on the bed.

Homes fell into a deep thought, mumbling, "he is naked, so there was physical intimacy." He puffed furiously on his pipe. Holmes pointed his pipe at the body declaring, "Clearly the demon was frustrated and angry at the murdered man's lack of intimate skills."

"But, said Joan, "six knives in the back? Who travels with six knives to an intimate rendezvous?"

Holmes looked at Watson and shook his head. Putting his pipe into his mouth, he spoke out of the side of his mouth, "This was a group thing, one knife from each lady demon."

"Holmes," said Watson, "you are quite annoying," as she waved her hand to conjure a seventh knife.
